Drainage in landscaping is one of the most important aspects of design that if not given attention can easily ruin the beauty of garden. If drainage is not planned properly the water which is supposed to flow out of the garden through various channels forms in pools and quickly becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes which can be quite unhygienic for kids and adults too.

To cater to this problem a contour plan of the plot is created during the design stage itself. This kind of contour plan shows the natural slope of the land (if any) which can be used to flow out the water and preventing it pools of water in the landscaping spaces such as lawn, kids play areas, walkways.

Use of natural slope to flow out water also cuts off cost of pumping out the water using electrically driven pumps. Many times natural rainwater is stored in a tank and reused to be used in plants, fishponds. This kind f system is called as "rainwater harvesting".

Underwater gutters or even beautiful rock gardens can be constructed along the flow of water drift to add to the beauty of the garden. This nature friendly design will work wonders in your landscaping garden by cutting maintenance costs as well.

Normally all the water is collected in a reservoir tank which is connected to the waste line of the local authorities outside of the plot. However this kind of planning must be done during design stage. If not planned properly can create lots of problems and increase maintenance costs too.
