These are just a few uses of landscaping gravel that came to my mind. You can come up with your own ways to use them too. Gravel can be of two basic types. 1) Man made gravel - This is created by crushing stones of various colors. This type of gravel lacks the finish of natural gravel. This type of gravel may have pointed edges and makes it impossible for using on walkways. However these types of gravel stones can be used as cladding on walls to add some extra texture. 2) Natural gravel - This type of gravel is obtained directly from riverbeds. Because rivers have a natural flow of water, the gravel stones have smooth rounded shapes which make them a perfect material for walkways fillers and a variety of uses. Even pathways entirely laid with natural gravel give an excellent texture and quality to the surface. |

Since the basic material of any type of gravel is stone it also has a strength to bear human movement on pathways. Sometimes gravel is also used as a basic martial for concrete blocks flooring. A layer of gravel is first laid on the entire surface and concrete interlocking blocks are laid on top by hammering with a wooden hammer. | ||
