Planning and executing a beautiful landscaping garden around your home can be fun once you
start to visualize the outcome of your space. Planning is the most important and required task to
fulfill any kind of project from start to finish, it is planning that makes the process of landscaping easy and
economical in the end. Landscaping planning is a step by step process and can involve the following stages. |
|
|
1) Collect raw data about site 2) Compare this raw data against the requirements to be fulfilled 3) Prepare primary sketches in the form of plans, elevations, 3d sketches 4) Modify/alter as per the budget requirements 5) Execute the design on site These is a very basic structure of landscaping planning that can be altered somewhat depending upon the project. Let's have a look at these stages one by one. 1) Collect raw data about site - Raw data includes the topographical data of the site which may include dimensions, size, shape slope, nature of soil, wind direction, intensity and direction of direct sunlight, annual rainfall, etc. All these factors will greatly affect the growth of plants and trees. Raw data also includes presence of any other external factors such as a seashore along the site, railway tracks, flowing river, presence of tall buildings etc. 2) Compare this raw data against the requirements to be fulfilled - Requirements may include a swimming pool, amphitheatre, jogging tracks, playing area for kids, fountains, skating rings, lawn, lakes, etc. Once this list of requirements is obtained it is necessary to compare the above mentioned raw data with the requirements to see the conflict in them. For example if the site is a flat one then designing an amphitheatre on the site will require extra excavation and this will lead to a problem of rainwater drainage. As against this if the site has a natural slope then designing an amphitheatre o this natural slope becomes easy. 3) Prepare primary sketches in the form of plans, elevations, 3d sketches - Primary sketches may include rough plans, of various spaces such as entrances, walkways, 3d sketches of selected views in the garden along with proposed plants. 4) Modify/alter as per the budget requirements - Budget has a very powerful influence in any design. That is why it is important to take note of this factor at this stage itself to prevent future problems. 5) Execute the design on site - Executing the design on site first requires a complete technical set of drawing called as "working drawings". These drawings must be prepared by a professional architect who knows the language of drawing that a technical person can read. |

| Normally landscaping projects are executed by a landscaping contractor. he will demand vary detailed drawings from the designer so that the landscaping garden can be executed on the site as per the design.
